Nov. 7--MARGATE -- Lake Shore Swap Shop will close early next year to make way for new stores and residences, city officials said. Flea market magnate Preston Henn and his wife, Betty Henn, recently agreed to sell the 17-acre property with its produce market and motel for $15.3 million to the city's Community Redevelopment Agency. Since the mid-1990s, the city's CRA has wanted to redevelop the swap shop at 1000 N. State Road 7 in Margate as part of its plans to have pedestrian-friendly centers featuring sidewalk cafes, shops and apartments or condos housing about 2,000 residents.
