Many patients do not have generalised shoulder pain or limitation of range of movement in all planes, which would necessitate a prescription of several acupuncture and ahshi points. Often it is only one movement or combination of movements which causes discomfort. Sometimes there is only momentary pain in part of one arc of the movement, commonly known as painful arc syndrome.
