This study compares the results of scalp acupuncture, speech training and counselling with the results of standard neurological treatment in the treatment of aphasia due to cerebrovascular accident. Approximately one third of patients with cerebrovascular disorders have aphasia/dysphasia as a result of damage to areas of the brain tissue associated with speech. This manifests as difficulty in comprehending and forming words and using them correctly. In the study, 36 inpatients were randomly assigned to a treatment and a control group.
