Today's nursing home administrators are under ever-increasing pressure to obtain additional education. Not only does the complexity of their jobs require that they keep up-to-date, but state licensing boards are also stressing formal education. While only about half of the states require a bachelor's degree for licensure as a nursing home administrator, and an even smaller percentage mandate specific coursework or degrees, there is strong movement in that direction. One can safely speculate that requirements will be even more stringent for future administrators.
