Nov. 8--Phil Nolan last night became the first Democrat in a generation to capture the job of Town of Islip supervisor, after promoting himself as a campaigner against corruption that erupted under GOP control.
Preliminary results showed Nolan defeating his Republican opponent, Pamela J. Greene.
"We definitely have had a good message -- restoring ethics to the town, putting the airport back to its former splendor, and bringing fresh life to some town departments," Nolan said. "I feel extremely gratified that the people of Islip have placed their trust in me."
