Granted that most of the on-going discussions in Jordan about the movie take place in the living rooms of the upper class or the intelligencia, a debate about the merits of getting to know the other side has finally begun. The question is, is Schindler's List really about the other side, or merely the narrow vision of Jewish suffering that director/producer Steven Spielberg meant it to be?
The vast majority of Jordanian and Palestinian intellectuals have already brandished Schindler's List, as yet another attempt to stir up the guilt feelings of the Christian West and their treatment of the Jews generally and during the holocaust particularly.
