Hunters illegally baiting deer remains a significant problem in Minnesota, based on reports from conservation officers last weekend.
About 60 officers received baiting complaints or cited hunters for placing bait to attract deer.
This despite widespread publicity last year of numerous hunters being fined for the practice, and new rules this season closing loopholes in the baiting restriction laws. If anything, there seems to be more baiting than ever, some officers say.
