Nov. 9--Rebuked for not being a team player, the top official at Southern Illinois University's Carbondale campus was ousted Wednesday morning, about eight months before the end of his contract. Chancellor Walter Wendler, who took over at the 21,000-student campus five years ago, was told last year that his contract would not be renewed. He recently has been under fire for allegations of plagiarism and has been accused of not communicating with his colleagues, particularly his new boss, SIU President Glenn Poshard. In announcing the decision Wednesday, Poshard said he could not carry out his goals as long as Wendler was in office. ...
