As scientists, the historical and sociological aspects of our research rarely appear in print, yet it is this context that provides the human factor in our endeavors. Over the years, my scholarly work has deviated from the traditional path of bench research and, at the suggestions of others, my forays into chemical education and the history of chemistry are outlined in this article.
