Nov. 9--AZUSA -- The blasts of gunfire no longer echo off the walls of the San Gabriel Canyon.
But city officials say what will replace those booming sounds is anyone's guess, with everything from parks to homes to increased mining among the possibilities.
The venerable San Gabriel Valley Gun Club finally closed Sunday, after 60 years of business. The closure was set in motion in March 2005, when the Azusa City Council rezoned the property for open space.
The rezoning was triggered in part by nearby Mountain Cove residents, who complained about the noise generated by the club and raised concerns about safety.
