machinery shows The Big One Breaks Ground Not many people have heard of Algona, Iowa, but the little town is making a name for itself as home to the largest biodiesel plant in Iowa.
East Fork Biodiesel broke ground in September on Iowa’s first 60-million-gallon biodiesel plant. Biodiesel construction and business development company Renewable Energy Group (REG) has taken a minority interest in the plant and is providing construction services. The $70-million plant will use soybean oil and forecasts annual biodiesel sales of $144.6 million.
