Nov. 9--PAWTUCKET -- A measure giving the city the authority to acquire the Pawtucket-Central Falls train station was moved to the top of the City Council's docket yesterday after languishing there for nearly four months.
The measure, which would enable the Pawtucket Redevelopment Agency to acquire the train station by condemnation, was scheduled for a Dec. 6 public hearing by a unanimous council vote last night.
The vote came after a committee meeting at which the would-be developers of the station promised that if the city moved ahead would condemnation, there would be a legal battle.
