IT'S not surprising estate agents are so unpopular when you discover it takes a whopping 152 days - nearly six months - to complete an average property sale.
Then there's the 34 per cent of sales that fall through, costing a staggering pounds 350million in wasted legal and survey costs.
In recent years there has been a backlash, with 10 per cent of homes now sold without the help of estate agents. Latest Government research suggests that what the country needs is a "property bank" of chain-free housing stock to help speed up the system.
