Nov. 12--The Internal Revenue Service has released the Farmer's Tax Guide for use in preparing 2006 tax returns. IRS Publication 225 contains information on the farming business either as an owner or tenant.

"If you cultivate, operate, or manage a farm for profit which includes stock, dairy, poultry, fish, fruit, vegetable and truck farms, this guide would serve you well," IRS spokesperson Clay Sanford said.

The guide explains how the federal tax laws apply to farming, how to figure your taxes and complete your farm tax return, and the new tax laws for 2006 and 2007. The guide is available at www.IRS.gov.
