Nov. 13--THE PRESTON COUNTY Commission will discuss putting a bounty on coyotes when it meets at 9:30 a.m. today in the courthouse annex.
KINGWOOD -- Preston farmers say they're losing livestock to coyotes, so the Preston County Commission is considering offering a bounty on the canine predators.
Commission President Darwin Wolfe raised the issue at the most recent commission meeting, suggesting a bounty of $25 per coyote, up to a maximum of $1,000, to be paid from the county's dog and sheep fund to hunters and trappers who bring in the coyotes.
Money in the fund comes from collections of dog taxes.
