Last Thursday's story about baby boomers got some things wrong (see "What Comes After Boomers?" Nov. 2).
Contrary to the assertion of the keynote speaker at Wednesday's conference on Upstate's aging population, "baby boomers" generally refers to the 76 million people born from 1946 through 1964, roughly 17 million more people than would have been born if birth rates had not spiked during this 19-year period.
Also contrary to his assertion, it is not true that no boomers have "served in the White House;" that is, unless you ignore the presidencies of George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. And over-generalizations about baby boomers as "self-sufficient," ...
