NEW YORK - Art and commerce don't always go together like a horse and carriage, yet at Louis Vuitton, the two are in an ongoing romance.
In recent years, the luxury goods house has undertaken handbag collaborations with Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami and in-store displays of work by artists Robert Wilson, Ugo Rondinonel, Jean Larivire, James Turrell and Tim White-Sobieski. In October, LVMH Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton announced plans for a Frank Gehry-designed Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation to stage special exhibits, which is slated to open in 2010.
