When Link Theory Holdings Co. Ltd. bought Helmut Lang from Prada this past March, something major was missing: a designer. Lang left the label in 2005 and has no plans to return. Happily, it didn't take Link Theory long to fill in the blank. In mid-May the company announced the appointment of Nicole and Michael Colovos, founders of Habitual, who will debut their first collection for spring 2007. Link Theory plans to reintroduce Helmut Lang as a contemporary line. It's an area in which the Colovoses--whose Habitual brand started with denim and expanded into accessories, maternity, men's wear and children's clothes--have plenty of experience.
