SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- The Santa Barbara News-Press has filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) against the Teamsters Union for engaging in illegal picketing which was threatening and coercive secondary activity in violation of the National Labor Relations Act.
The charge states that the union, through its representatives, engaged in, or encouraged others to engage in, illegal secondary activities for the purpose of forcing or requiring the Santa Barbara Biltmore Hotel to cease doing business with Ampersand Publishing, LLC, or pressuring Ampersand to recognize or bargain with the Teamsters.
