Nov. 15--Olmsted County Board and Onyx Waste Systems Midwest buried their lawsuits in the landfill, so-to-speak, with the approval by the board of a settlement of their dueling lawsuits. Olmsted County will receive $640,000 in fees from Onyx that were accruing during the legal battle. Onyx also agreed to a one-time donation of $325,000 to the county for solid waste and recycling programs or other related needs. Onyx, one of the commercial trash haulers in Olmsted County, sued the county in April 2005 over increased trash fees to help pay for the third burner in the county's waste-to-energy facility on Rochester's east side.
