BOSTON -- Children with cerebral palsy have a higher incidence of behavioral and emotional difficulties than their typically developing peers, results of a recent study suggest.

These difficulties have a potentially deleterious effect on quality of life, Nicholas Hall of Montreal Children's Hospital reported in a poster at the annual meeting of the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.

A total of 74 parents of children with cerebral palsy (CP) participated in the study and completed the 25-item Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), which addresses prosocial behavior and psychopathology of 3- to 16-year-olds. The ...
