Nov. 16--El Campo coach Bob Gillis has no doubt the Ricebirds are aware of La Marque's playoff success but he would prefer they forget about it.
"In a lot of ways you're playing the mystique of La Marque," Gillis said. "For so many years they've gone so far in the playoffs and even won state championships. Once you get past that, it's just like you're playing another good team."
Gillis knows the Ricebirds (8-2) will face another good La Marque team in today's Class 4A, Division II bi-district playoff game set for 7:30 p.m. at The Rig in Pearland. The Cougars (9-1) finished the regular season ranked No. 6 in the Associated ...
