Stroger wasn't the only familiar name for Cook County voters in countywide races Tuesday.
Cook County Clerk David Orr, Assessor James Houlihan and Treasurer Maria Pappas - all incumbent Democrats - soundly defeated their challengers.
Thomas Dart, a Democrat from Chicago, was elected to his first term as Cook County sheriff with a similarly commanding margin.
With slightly more than 60 percent of the precincts reporting, the three incumbents - Orr, Houlihan and Pappas - were leading their opponents with more than 80 percent of the votes in their individual races, according to unofficial ...
