Dane County is poised to save $200,000 a year under a contract to let neighboring Rock County reserve some beds at the detox center in Madison.
And it won't short-sheet any Dane County residents, officials said, despite the center's tendency to fill up on certain problem nights such as Halloween and the Mifflin Street party.
"We carefully analyzed it and we believe that the Rock County need is not very great," said Lynn Green, director of human services for Dane County. "On average, we do not run at capacity. There may be the occasional blip, but we believe it will be fine."
