NEW ORLEANS-- Public expectations of guaranteed health insurance at premiums not reflective of the individual risk is polarizing the health care reform debate and making compromise in Congress more difficult, Health Insurance Association of America President Bill Gradison has warned.
"I sense that the country is moving, at least, in the direction of saying that 'health insurance is different, everybody should be entitled to health insurance, but the premium should not bear any relevance to the risk involved,'" Mr. Gradison said at the recent annual meeting of the Alliance of American Insurers.
