Contracts are key in Foley price stability.(PRICE SURVEY)

Except for certain specialty and newer models, the prices of Foley catheters have been stable in the past year and are likely to remain so in 2007. Materials managers responding to this month's HMM price survey cite contract terms that lock in prices or strictly limit increases.

Only silver-coated models, which are growing more popular, may see more price hikes in the future.

Some individual models have undergone steep drops and jumps in average prices during the past year, but that may be because of differences in the hospitals and groups that submit prices from one survey to the next.
