No company is safe from a pack of hungry private equity firms.(Business Report Weekend)

In the near future private equity firms will have enough funds to buy out nearly a quarter of the FTSE 100, according to The Economist magazine. This year alone they have raised $300 billion (R2.2 trillion).

Consider this. Earlier this year, private equity firms raised $33 billion for a buyout of US healthcare provider HCA. In addition, Citigroup says that for the first time in more than 20 years private equity fund activity will result in European stock markets shrinking. This demonstrates how these firms are reshaping international markets.
