Nov. 19--If there is one time of the year that Americans like leftovers, it's Thanksgiving. There is nothing like a sliced turkey sandwich made with the leftover bird. But to retain flavor, freshness, and food safety, it's important to know the basics of food storage and reheating, according to the American Dietetic Association. This holiday season, the plastics division of the American Chemistry Council offers these tips for leftovers: --Refrigerate all leftovers promptly. Don't leave them on the counter for hours. Hot or cold foods should be packaged and stored in airtight containers within two hours after cooking.
