JANET Street-Porter has told how her sister suffered the 'hell' of a mixed-sex hospital ward during her final days.

Patricia Balsom, 57, died eight months after being diagnosed with lung and brain cancer.

She left a shocking diary chronicling the failings of the NHS over the last three weeks of her life. Her final entry, the day before her death last Thursday, read: 'I don't feel as if anyone in the NHS is really in charge of my case. It's all up to me, Janet and Mick (her husband).'
