Nov. 20--TOKYO -- Hitachi Ltd. President Kazuo Furukawa, in an interview with Kyodo News Monday, said his company is studying a plan to promote plasma TVs abroad with Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and Pioneer Corp. in light of a sharp increase in flat-screen TV sales in Europe and elsewhere.
"We are exploring various ways to do something (in order to promote plasma TVs) with Matsushita and Pioneer," Furukawa said.
At the moment, however, liquid crystal display TVs are posing stiff competition for plasma sets.
According to DisplaySearch, shipments of LCD models outnumbered those of plasma TVs in the global market for 37-inch and larger sets ...
