This book comprises a collection of ten essays written in honour of Max Hartwell. They deal with key economic, social and political issues that arise in studying the Industrial Revolution. The contributors, all leading scholars in the field, aim to 'link their specialist knowledge with the recent findings of other scholars', producing a new textbook intended primarily for a student readership.
