NTL rebrands itself 'Virgin Media,' reports declining broadband growth.(BROADBAND BEAT)

NTL, Britain's biggest cable TV operator, this week has changed its name to Virgin Media. It also reported widening losses in the third quarter due to pressure from rivals' broadband offers. The company grew when NTL acquired cable TV rival Telewest at the beginning of 2006, then again when it acquired the mobile phone service Virgin Mobile in July. The Virgin Media name will take effect in the first quarter of 2007.
