Article: Chinese silk fabrics may face dumping duty.

Nov. 20--NEW DELHI -- On the eve of Chinese president Hu Jintao's visit to India, the commerce department recommended imposition of anti-dumping duty on Chinese silk fabrics. Likely to affect half-a-dozen Chinese exporters and their associates, the move is expected to have a bearing on the economic ties between the two countries, especially since India has not granted market economy status to China.

The commerce department had initiated an anti-dumping investigation on Chinese silk imports on the basis of complaints from a number of Karnataka-based organisations. The duties recommended by the commerce department are in the range of 40-50 percent, according to ...
