No matter how you feel about the outcome of the recent elections, it seems to me we can all agree that something needs to be done about the way the campaigns are conducted.
For one thing, there's the money. More than $2.6 billion, much of it from special interest groups that will expect something in return, was spent on advertising during the campaign.
Then, there's the advertising itself, the majority of it negative. Nasty might be a better word. The impartial Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania reviewed ads placed in 101 major media markets in this campaign. It found 91 percent of the ads placed by Republican ...
