Lena Horne, legendary star of stage and screen whose illustrious career as a songstylist and actress spans more than 50 years, has just released her first album in more than a decade and ironically enough, maintains, "I really do hate to sing."

The venerable Ms. Horne told JET in a recent interview, "I really do hate to sing and I'll tell you why. I don't mind singing, but I want to sing like Aretha Franklin. Before her I wanted the technical ability of Ella Fitzgerald.

"And as much as I try, when I open my mouth, Lena comes out, And I get so mad," she said with a lilting Southern drawl.
