Regarding your cover story Africa's Exploding Cities (African Business August/September 2006 issue) you might have heard that this country, the US, passed an important population milestone last month. On 17th October, the official US census bureau's 'population clock' passed 300m.

This represents 4.57% of the total world population, roughly the same percentage as 100 years ago.
