Nov. 22--TEMPE -- Rudy Carpenter did not look so good. Carpenter, ASU's starting quarterback, was sitting at a table Monday, head down, hiding the bags under his eyes. He was asked if he had caught the flu that has been going around the team -- Carpenter got hit and looked ill Saturday -- but the quarterback said no. He held up a water bottle and smiled, at least for a minute. "Rudy is very hard on himself sometimes, and oftentimes too much so," said coach Dirk Koetter. "I often think that's Rudy's style.
