Incoming Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) became the second top Democrat with telecom oversight to voice concerns about a $79 billion merger that would put top U.S. mobile-phone operator Cingular Wireless L.L.C. solely in the hands of AT&T Inc., saying he too would welcome the Federal Communications Commission delaying a decision until next year.

Inouye initially voiced his views in remarks to Reuters.
