Green building doesn't have to be just about actually building with green products.
An area such as alternative energy use can help a business or building become more environmentally friendly, but it might take some thinking outside of the norm.
A growing trend is the use of landfill gas to help provide power.
Businesses that use landfill gas can earn credits toward their green building certification through the U.S. Green Building Council, said Dana Murray, a project manager at SCS Engineers, an environmental consulting company.
