UNTIDY parts of Balsall Heath have been handed a new lease of life thanks to greenfingered youngsters.

Council-owned residential gardens on Willows Road, Homer Street, Hallam Street, Mary Street and Edward Road had turned into mini jungles due to neglect.

The gardens had become overgrown, alleyways were impenetrable because of brambles and the area was overrun by rats. Fed-up residents appealed to Balsall Heath street wardens for help but were told it would take up to a fortnight to clear.
