A YOUNG woman wept in court yesterday as she told how her adulterous father confessed to killing her mother.

Claire Songhurst, 32, had phoned Derek Symmons to ask about her mother Christine's whereabouts the day after the couple had been to see a marriage guidance counsellor.

'He told me: "I've done something terrible. You'll never forgive me". He made a remark that this was the end of his life.

'I said, "Why don't you come over and we'll talk about it".

He said, "I can't. I'm in France". I said, "Where's mum?"

'He said, "She's with me". At that point I thought, "OK, she's with him".
