Liberty Mutual signs deal on group health book. (Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, Travelers Insurance Cos., Consolidated Group)

Liberty Mutual Insurance Group is turning its group medical insurance branch over to Consolidated Group and Travelers Insurance Cos. The insurer has decided to concentrate on the group life, group disability and worker's compensation managed care markets instead. The transfer to Consolidated will encompass about 250,000 policyholders with more than $500 million in premiums and equivalents. Consolidated had been administering the program since 1991.

Travelers Insurance Cos. and Consolidated Group have signed an agreement with Liberty Mutual Insurance Group to assume responsibility for its group medical coverage and related services.
