Nov. 23--The soldier was rushed in with a gaping belly wound, burns on his back and ulcers all over his skin. Dr. Steven J. Thomas, working in a field hospital in southern Iraq, had never seen anything like it in his experience as chief resident of plastic surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
