THE SABC was clever in having a photograph of its chief executive, Dali Mpofu, featured on the front cover of Leadership magazine.
It cost R123 000 and, according to Communications Minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, "was not personal publicity for Mpofu", yet was clearly worth every cent.
Any negative thoughts that SABC subscribers might have fostered about a list of commentators being blacklisted by Snuki Zikalala would immediately have been dispelled by Mr Mpofu's cheerful face.
"Well, a man that important must know what he's doing," they would say. "He's up there with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who also appeared on the front cover."
