Ilim exec chides paper industry.(IN CANADA)

Russia-based Ilim Pulp's executive vice president criticized the Canadian paper industry for lacking the leadership to revitalize itself.

Frank Graves, a former pulp salesman for Tembec Inc., recently told the National Post that Canadians blame its paper industry's woes on everything from a strong currency to bad government policy. But the leadership should instead be focusing on new ways to boost profits.

Graves joined Ilim in 2001, when Russian forestry companies were starting to team up with foreign investors interested in taking advantage of that country's abundant forest resources, estimated at one-fifth of the world's standing timber.
