The American Heritage Dictionary online. (Software Review) (Technology Reviews) (Evaluation)

In addition to the full set of entries with complete definitions, American Heritage Dictionary (AHD) online comes bundled with Roget's Electronic Thesaurus II and a unique reverse-dictionary feature called WordHunter.

The online AHD is available in two versions. The standard version has 80,000 entries, occupying 5MB of disk space, and the deluxe edition 200,000 entries on 15 MB. Both versions are adaptations from the third edition published by Houghton Mifflin in 1992. This edition includes several high-technology neologisms such as multimedia, CD-ROM, and WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get"--as in desktop publishing).
