Nov. 26--WATERLOO -- The Board of Education on Monday will get its first look at a proposal to include "sexual orientation" in nine revamped policies. The board meets at 6 p.m. in the Education Service Center, 1516 Washington St.
Superintendent Dewitt Jones in a memo to board members wrote that re-evaluation of the policies was spurred by an Iowa Department of Education review last spring. In a section of the report looking at equity, the department recommended the inclusion of sexual orientation in Waterloo Community Schools policies.
