Until a relative found an old appointment card, Carmen Friel believed nobody knew of the living hell she had endured at the hands of her father as a child, or would even believe her story.
Ms Friel, who is today flying off to Europe to start a new life with husband Gary Smith, was thrown into a river by her mother when she was just 11 days old, in an attempt to drown her in June 1965. Carmen, now aged 41, was placed into care by social services but six years later she was sent ...
