AS THE FATHER OF THREE GIRLS ages 8 through 13, I'm wary of personal care companies that target tweens and young girls with their color cosmetics, skin care and fragrance collections. Really, does a 7-year old need to wear lipgloss? I'm certainly not alone in my concern. The battle is being waged in homes across much of the U.S. and Western Europe as parents try to keep their kids ... well, kids, and consumer product companies are just as determined to make them grow up fast.
My own wakeup call came a few weeks ago. Rushing home from work before heading out to a little league soccer game, I had a clipboard in one hand and a bag of cosmetic samples from the office ...
