MapInfo Corporation has published three updates of MapInfo Professional since my review of version 7.8 (see First Impressions, Geospatial Solutions, April 2005). The jump to 8.0, then 8.5, is a software vendor's way of signaling that two magnitudes of change have taken place since 7.8, and a complete list of changes by version is at www.mapinfo.com/static/files/document/11478907756 17/MIProCompChart.pdf.
